I'm having my revenge now though. If Opera can rock, then so can John Denver.
Dreamland Express
Act 3, Parsifal
In one of the most thrilling rehearsals of my career yesterday I got to pretend to be one. Floating above heads and being passed around the stage is a remarkable feeling. I'm tempted to fully paint the picture as to when it the show it comes, but will refrain.Next rehearsal I'll also refrain from yelling out "Hey! Who just grabbed my butt!?" Sorry, couldn't resist.
Sunday started by being met with the locals who have joined us. You immediately sense they are there for the fun of it, simply because they are interested in the process.
Tough Task. Getting coordination with 200. Fortunately, this was the quietest bunch imaginable. And they are well-bathed! (A big priority in moments like these…)

First of all let's make it clear ... having been audience of 150 different opera's live it is a real thrill to be on stage and to feel the singers and the creativity around me! I had tears in my eyes on 3 occasions : the beginning, the cry & at the end when we left & applause!
So I/we have to thank you all & De Munt/La Monnaie to make this happen ! Secondly ... being on the rehearsal-stage the extra don't realy see what happens so these pictures are a blessing !
So a little question: could I/we have a copy of your Denver-video-clip ? That would be very nice !
Servaas
p.s. I lifted you above us (the crowd) and touched your bottom, but it wasn't me who piched it !
@Servaas. Lol. Thanks for the 'hand.' I will have to think about your request. For now I'll keep it here on the blog.
The ending to me was also overwhelming. I was trying to describe it to my wife later that night. IT is not a sadness or helpless loneliness. You can literally still feel the quivering energy of the masses onstage even when you are not there. The room feels alive somehow. the strangest feeling I've ever felt. A fullness that is indescribable.
I admit it, it was I pinching, but only because I thought you were saying: "Can somebody please pinch my a..." ;-) Mea Culpa, Won't do it again, promised, next time Kundry will receive an unpinched Parsifal!
For me the lifting the hands on 'des Grales heil'gen Speer' was a goosebump-moment, and of course the grand finale: people leaving the stage one by one, leaving Parsifal alone with his 'nur eine Waffe'. It really was magic, and it was only the first rehearsal...
I really am anxious to continue with the rehearsing, and even more for the first performance!
Thanks to everybody who contributed, I think after this first day all the extra's will be even more motivated!
And thank's for the pics!! I heard some more pics will be posted on the Parsifal-wiki.
